When we use the phrase "Ethically Handmade," it represents our dedication to creating products that are not only stylish and comfortable but also produced in a socially responsible manner.

Shoes Handmade in Seminyak, Bali

Our shoes are meticulously crafted by a small team of 2-6 skilled craftsmen in Seminyak, Bali. These artisans are all from Java, Indonesia, and bring their expertise and passion to every pair of Mindful Steps shoes they create.

Working at their own pace in a green area of Seminyak, our craftsmen enjoy a comfortable and open workplace. They have the flexibility to take time off for important ceremonies and the entire month of Eid when they are fasting. During this time, they have the option to work if they choose or return to their homeland to spend quality time with their families.

The team is employed by our production manager Wy who you will often see featured in photos from my Bali visits. She communicates with the shoemakers regarding our designs and what fabrics to use, and she stores our faux leather safely for us.

The same team also handcrafts all our beautiful bags and belts. Amazing skills - don't you think?

Hats Handmade in China

Our synthetic hats are handmade in China by a team of skilled milliners who are paid a fair salary for their craftsmanship. They work in a roomy and bright studio alongside a maximum of 30 men and women, each with plenty of space and safety markings between all stations using sewing machines - ensuring a safe work environment.

The studio is equipped with large cooling fans and large windows, allowing ample natural light to flood the space. Safety is a top priority, with fire extinguishers readily available to ensure the well-being of the team. Additionally, all sewing machines used in the production process are modern and of high quality.
